Sara Sparrow came to modern circus in 2005 holding a BA in Fine Art, with a background as a gymnast, an actor and performer in musical theater, and as a classically-trained singer and musician. she has performed professionally for two decades as an multi-disciplinary aerialist, an acrobat, a hand balancer, foot juggler, carpet-spinner, chair stacker, parasol-twirler, musician, singer, dancer, showgirl, clown, actress, and chicken. her innovative movement style has inspired and influenced the direction of contemporary circus in the Pacific Northwest. she is the founder and former owner of Sparrow Studios school for aerial arts in Olympia, WA.
noteworthy engagements and employers include Seattle’s Teatro ZinZanni with duo Levity; Animate Objects Physical Theater, TEDx Rainier, EnJoy Productions, USC Events; with the Aerialistas at Friedrichsbau Variete in Stuttgart DE, and Teatro Circo Price, Madrid and Bilbao, Spain.
Sara has also produced and directed several shows, including her own solo show Wee Small (2016), Sparrow Studios’ Petrichor (2017), and Murmurations’ Cirq Profond (2018).
she is currently developing a new body of work through her mixed-media project, Cirque de Crochet.
